Pamela Pecko Smith: News

Daisy's in the Parks!

What fun to be performing regularly at Daisy's in the Park, in both the Pinner and Radlett locations.  These lovely bistros are set into beautiful parks, so a stroll before or after supper is recommended.  I'm a one-woman-show there, crooning classics from the American Songbook, and I bring along my flute, too.  Please check my calendar for the next date at Daisy's.

Lodore Ensemble, Concerts and Recording - January 23, 2018

The Lodore Ensemble played two special programmes in July 2017.  At St. Olave's Hart Street our guest violinist Krassimira Jeliazkova-Jones played a fiery rendition of Stravinsky's Suite Italienne.  Soprano Jacqueline Dias sang two stunning songs from Handel's Nine Arias, and later joined the ensemble for our own arrangement of Piazzolla's Oblivion.  As per usual, masterful pianist Margaret Ozanne spun her magic throughout the entire programme.

At the Foundling Museum we were delighted to perform in the beautiful Picture Gallery.  Composer Amanda Lee Falkenberg, who was commissioned to wrote our new repertory piece 'The Lodore Falls of Borrowdale' especially for us, was in attendance with her husband composer and music teacher Paul Hopkins.  It was a very special event for all of us.

We are delighted to announce that we will be recording in February 2018 with a spring launch ahead.  More news TBA...

Moonshine and Prohibition - November 27, 2017

A positive element of the Prohibition Era was the development of Speakeasy- or Moonshine- Clubs which sprang up all over the US.  Often fueled by organized crime families making huge profits on illegal trade of booze, these 'secret' hangouts gave a perfect platform to working jazz musicians.

In 2017 the bistro chain Daisy's in the Park is transforming their newest venue into the look and sound of this bygone era, and the Honeysuckle Jazz Trio will make it's debut for four consecutive Saturdays in December. Featuring special guests on December 9th and 16th, these evenings will be full of 1920-s style and elegance.

I'm looking very forward to performing timeless classic tunes of the day with some fantastic professionals. Hope you can join us, details in the Calendar page.

Notting Hill Film Orchestra - July 30, 2017

The Notting Hill Orchestra for Film Music has been playing fantastic programmes of late.  Our last event, the Summer Film Music Gala, saw us play two world premieres, as well as classic film scores.  I was thrilled to perform an original vocal arrangement by Nelson Riddle, 'I Got Rhythm', written for one of his collaborations with Ella Fitzgerald. This arrangement dates from 1959.

Our collaboration with neo-classical film composer Ilan Eshkeri has been remarkable. The orchestra will be continuing our exploration of Eshkeri's work in our Winter Film Music Gala on December 16th.  More exciting information about this event TBA...
